Business Lessons from this Episode:

  • A 200-hour only has so much information in it – it’s essential to keep learning and keep branching off!
  • The possibilities of learning as a yoga teacher are endless!
  • Try lots of different types of teaching and see what you enjoy doing
  •  Say “no” to things that don’t serve you
  • Self-care is important, but sometimes it’s hard to fit in
  • Ending your work day is important!
  • Having a coach that can help you stay accountable can be really beneficial
  • When you have an audience, find out what their interested in and also share with them what you are doing
  • Have a supportive group where you feel safe to talk about what you’re going through
  • Keys to having a great community (in-person or online):
    • Have rules or guidelines
    • Create a space where people are positive and provide constructive criticism and aren’t mean
  • As yoga teachers, we will make mistakes, just as we will as humans
  • “This is how we used to do things, and now we’ve learned x, and now we do it this way”
    • It’s important to be open to change within an industry like yoga
  • An online group is kind of like hosting a party and not knowing who is going to show up
    • Always be intentional with managing your group
  • Keep engagement up by having a space (Trello or Asana) where you can write the text that you want to post in the group
    • Tag new people in a new thread and encourage them to introduce themselves
  • A Facebook page is still good, but a group can encourage more personal and safe conversation
  • No need to “should” on yourself or your business
  • Live video can be a great way to engage your audience on both Facebook pages and in Facebook groups
  • What social media platform should I use? Ask yourself what your goal is for your business and for connecting with your clients.
  • Meeting people in person is still better for connecting than online community, but when you’re all over the world, an online community is a really great place to connect.
  • Stop looking at what everyone else is doing and think about what you want to do, and then be intentional in making that happen!
  • And much more… Here’s the episode!
