Selling Yoga Merchandise: Incorporating It Into Your Yoga Studio

Selling merchandise can be a great way to diversify your yoga studio and business. One thing to keep in mind is that your yoga students might want to buy merch from you, but they don’t want any old items that just have your logo slapped on them. You should spend some time thinking about how to sell merchandise that makes sense for your business and appeals to your audience. There are ways to incorporate merchandise into your business model and avoid having a random selection of products that don’t make sense. Try these tips to make sure that you get it right.

Consider the Yoga That You Teach

Firstly, think about the types of yoga classes that you offer. What might be useful for students who attend or watch your lessons? You might teach Yin Yoga poses that benefit from the use of items like blocks or bolsters. Offering these items for sale make sense because they are easily incorporated into the yoga teaching that you already provide. You might even provide links to your products on your online videos that involve using these items. You can use them yourself in your videos or classes so that people see them and might ask about them.

Ask Your Audience

Before selling any merchandise, ask your audience what sort of things they might buy from you. Would they be willing to buy yoga clothes with your name or logo on them? Would they buy yoga equipment recommended by you? Conduct a survey to find out what they think and discover which products might be most popular. You might show them mock-ups or samples of the products that you’re considering selling so that they can get a better idea of what might be on offer. Let them make suggestions for what they might want to see and what they would be willing to pay.

Ensure Quality

If you’re selling products that represent your brand, you don’t want to sell anything that’s not of great quality. It could affect your representation if you don’t make sure that you’re selling quality products. Before you start selling, be sure to take a look at samples of what you will be selling. This is especially important if you will be selling online. Don’t start using a drop shipping company without first checking that the items that they offer are worthy of your customers. You don’t want to let down loyal yoga students with poor merchandise.

Brand Your Products

When you choose to sell merchandise, it could just be items that work for your brand. Keeping the original brand might be best if you want to show that you sell quality products. However, you might also choose to brand products with your own yoga studio name. This gives you the chance to personalize the things that you sell and build on your brand. It might be a good thing to do with clothes or yoga equipment, such as mats or blocks.

If you want to sell yoga merchandise, ensure that it makes sense for your brand. Don’t go into it without a plan.
