This week on the podcast I am very excited to be joined by Veronica Thai from the Curious Monki podcast. Veronica is not only a fellow podcast host, but also a fellow yoga teacher and Albertan! Veronica and I met a few years ago and have had the pleasure of spending time together in person, as well as doing some Desire Map coaching together.

One of the things that inspires me the most about Veronica and her business is that she does everything from a feeling perspective, rather than a thinking perspective. On this episode, we talk about her journey as a yoga teacher, starting a podcast, overcoming imposter syndrome, and how she came to run a heart centered business. Of course, she also shares business lessons that she learned along the way!

Enjoy!

Discussed in this episode:
  • It’s okay to not teach in yoga studios! Veronica’s journey has taken her to lots of places outside of the yoga studio.
  • The heart of the matter is all that matters!
  • Check in with what serves you right from the get go with your teaching
  • Trust yourself when it comes to your career – handing in your resignation letter WILL be scary, but it will also be really liberating
  • When your schedule is all your own, it’s easy to get lost so you have to be disciplined
  • The other side of discipline is that you have to make sure that you rest as well!
  • When you change, the target (your goals and ambitions) change too
  • It’s important and inspiring to talk to people and hear the realness of people’s lives and to hear how they got where they are
  • Imposter syndrome is normal when we start something new – we all get bogged down by the “who am I to do this thing?” inner dialogue
  • We only have everything that we do because we want to feel a certain way when we get there
  • The Desire Map has been a game changer for Veronica and her business (as well as mine!) – learn to lead from your heart, not your head
  • Our feelings run the show, so it’s important to find what feelings make you feel good and inspired – in the Desire Map, these are our core desired feelings
  • Identifying our core desired feelings allows us to decide what business decisions are “yes’s” and what business decisions are “no’s”
  • You need to maintain your energy, mindset and state! We can all write a newsletter, but whether you send it consistently or at all depends on your mindset.
  • There will be ups and downs on the entrepreneurial journey, but it’s important to ride the rollercoaster and choose to always look on the positive side, even when things feel tough
  • We need to choose to believe that we will make it!
  • Just get started! Getting started is overwhelming, but just get started with the first step.
  • Set 1 goal and do that, and then start building your business from there
  • And much more… Here’s the episode!

I am very excited to announce a new partnership with Ana Luisa! Ana Luisa is a quality jewelry brand that uses recycled gold to make their products. As a yoga teacher with a new business, I haven’t splurged on myself in years. I always end up buying cheap jewelry that doesn’t last, and that’s why I am so happy that I discovered Ana Luisa! They make pieces for everyday wear and beautiful pieces for all your events. The best part is that they are offering YOU a discount. Head on over to analuisa.com/mbom and treat yourself (because you’re worth it!).

The FavYogis app is back with new features for teachers that let you create and manage your own private classes while making payment and registration a breeze.

Do you have regular private clients? Make life easier with AUTO-PAY. Forget about remembering to Venmo. Use auto-pay to enable repeat payments and keep calendars in sync with classes. Google Calendar integration automatically updates teacher and student classes when you make changes

It’s STILL just your yoga; teachers add classes, students add teachers, and teachers and students stay connected.

Find FavYogis on your app store and use code MBOM.

Has your yoga studio’s growth become stagnant? If you’re like many studio owners I talk to, you’ve tried every marketing tactic under the sun. You started a blog, you’re posting regularly on all the social media sites, running challenges, sending out newsletters blah blah blah. Long story short, you’re doing a TON of work… and barely paying the bills.

What if there was an easier way? A way to get new students regularly coming through your door without having do work so darn hard to get them there? A Proven system that will consistently bring in 20+ new paying students to your studio each and every month? Well there is…. Ron Medlin and his team at www.getyogastudents.com have developed a 3-step system that will help you quickly grow your yoga studio to 6-figure profits and beyond without being shackled to your business.
