This week on the podcast I am joined by Rachel Scott! Rachel is a yoga teacher, yoga teacher trainer, curriculum developer, author, and business coach. On this episode, Rachel shares her journey as a yoga teacher, and a teacher trainer, as well as how she went from surviving to thriving in the yoga industry. Rachel shares tips for creating great teacher trainings, including marketing, curriculum development, and execution, as well as some of her top yoga business tips.

Enjoy!

Business Lessons in this episode:
  • To get past just surviving and move towards thriving as a yoga teacher you need to find ways to create new offerings. Online courses can be a great way to do that.
  • Online courses aren’t a get rich quick scheme. Don’t think about making a ton of money, but focus on creating extra resources that create value for your students.
  • Rachel talks about her experience leading teachers at YYoga and the systems that yoga studio owners should think about adopting for working with their teachers. A big one is to be clear about expectations for teachers, whether that is promoting classes on social media, or how to interact with students, being transparent with teachers about what you’re looking fell will benefit everyone.
  • Deciding to run and creating a yoga teacher training is a big decision. It is a lot more about being an educator than simply a great yoga teacher, so you have to be real with yourself about if it is something you want to do.
  • To market a training or workshop, you need to leverage your personal network. Social media is valuable, but the actual one on one conversations are key. You’ve got to know people who need the service to be able to convince them to sign up.
  • Designing a curriculum will usually take you four hours of work for every one hour of training. That means a 200-hour training will likely take 800 hours of prep and other work. If you want to run a successful training, you have to be ready to put in a lot of hard work.
  • No matter what you are doing, be authentic to your own teaching voice and teaching goals. You’re not going to appeal to everyone, so don’t try. Focus on what you do best and what interests you, and be the best teacher for your favorite students.
  • And much more… Here’s the episode!

Has your yoga studio’s growth become stagnant? If you’re like many studio owners I talk to, you’ve tried every marketing tactic under the sun. You started a blog, you’re posting regularly on all the social media sites, running challenges, sending out newsletters blah blah blah. Long story short, you’re doing a TON of work… and barely paying the bills.

What if there was an easier way? A way to get new students regularly coming through your door without having do work so darn hard to get them there? A Proven system that will consistently bring in 20+ new paying students to your studio each and every month? Well there is…. Ron Medlin and his team at www.getyogastudents.com have developed a 3-step system that will help you quickly grow your yoga studio to 6-figure profits and beyond without being shackled to your business.
