This week on the podcast I am joined by Marjolaine Savoie. Marjolaine is originally French Canadian, but joined me all the way from Berlin, Germany. She is the founder of Morning Marjolaine and the Living Mindfully Podcast. She is also a mindfulness coach and yoga teacher, and on this episode we talk about being a successful yoga teacher, being a podcast host, how to build a business that resonates with your clients, as well as how to frame your teaching as entrepreneurship.

Marjolaine also shares tips that she has learned from her yoga career, as well as from working with yoga teachers 1-on-1, about how to grow your business and succeed as a new yoga teacher.

Enjoy!

Business Lessons in this Episode:

  • She decided to jump into her yoga business by teaching yoga on Skype, she quickly built her own website and registered as a business. Her business (formerly known as Yoga with Bo) was a way for her to juggle her other dream of pursuing music.
  • Marjolaine started by marketing at a co-working space and handing out flyers, but got no clients. She also offered mindfulness coaching.
  • She got her first coaching client on a Facebook group and her first session with her client just “felt right”
  • As her business grew, she rebranded her business and got a new website
  • Decided to start doing in-person events like yoga retreats
  • Marjolaine decided to shift her focus to her yoga business and let go of music career for the time being
  • On rebranding to encompass a number of different business aspects, you need to understand:
    • Your message
    • How you want to impact people
    • Where do you see your brand in 20 years
  • The vision behind Morning Marjolaine is to be the number one reference for meaningful content for creative multi-passionate women entrepreneurs.
  • Your community needs to trust your services
  • Be 100% dedicated to your ideas
  • Choose which way you want to impact people and can you see yourself doing it?
  • Learn to accept help or to delegate by learning to explain your vision well when giving directives
  • Become confident to speak up when you’re not happy with the outcome of a delegated task. Letting people in, is also a skill
  • Consider hiring a business coach to grow your business. If you’re considering working with a coach think about this:
    • Break down how a business coach could help you
    • Look at your finances, if you can afford one now, save and give yourself a timeline
    • Are you ready to spend this time on yourself and to commit to bring your business much further in a shorter amount of time
  • Scheduling! Structure what you do and what you spend time on will be life changing
  • Invest time in meditating or ‘me time’, to help you gain clarity and overcome challenges
  • Create blocks of time for certain tasks and do your best in that time – you don’t have to finish your to-do list
  • Schedule self-care in your diary
  • Show up, build a community and understand that yourself can become a brand
  • Make sure that everything you do makes sense right now for yourself
  • Be open to learn from others and from mistakes, it’s OK to use ads or have partners or hire people, get the tools you need to make things happen
  • Keep learning everyday!
  • Don’t overwhelm yourself in Facebook groups
  • Who do you admire, what are your biggest aspirations, what is special about how they speak, how they do business and the way they share their message?
  • It’s OK to get inspiration, you will always fall into your unique way
  • And much more… Here’s the episode!
