This week on the podcast I am joined by Jacqueline Fisch, otherwise known as Jacq. Jacq is an intuitive writer, strategist and writing coach. She joined me on the podcast this week to talk about creating great sales copy for your website and your offerings.

One of the things I hear the most often is that sales feels icky, and Jacq is here to talk about why sales doesn’t need to be icky and how to create sales copy that feels authentic and genuine to your business. We talk about strategies for writing copy, how to set up a great sales page, how to reach your target audience, why great sales copy is so important, and much more!

Enjoy!

Discussed in this episode:
  • Taking a leap of faith into being a business owner is scary!
  • It’s great if you can have a small amount of savings when you’re starting a new business
  • Once you change what you’re doing, let people know what you’re doing
  • Start by offering your services for free, get testimonials and then start charging. From there, you can get referrals.
  • Show up everyday, ask people what they need, and serve
  • Take time for you each day
  • Sales doesn’t need to feel icky!
  • Approach selling your work from a positive feel good place
  • Use the language that your people use to describe their problems for your sales copy
  • Start with a Google doc that is full of client language – what do people say about the problems that they’re having? What do they say that they want?
  • Just start writing and revise from there – every piece of good writing started from somewhere
  • Start by focusing on the negative feelings that they have right now
  • Write directly to one person and reflect their feelings back to them
  • Then, take the negativity away and write in positive tones and describe their life how it would be without their problems
  • On your sales page, it’s mostly about your sales page and then a little bit about you
  • Make an offer to help, and then give them results. For example, “by coming to my class, you will be able to do…”
  • List the cost of what you are offering and list it as an “investment”
  • Every good sales page has a great call to action and tells them how to get started in a very straightforward manner
  • You should include testimonials on your website and on your sales pages
  • Sales is serving and this is really important to remember – if you have a gift, it’s your responsibility to share it with the world and help people!
  • When you’re writing copy, make sure that your target audience feels like they are in the right place on all your pages. You want each page to feel like it’s streamlined and part of the same package.
  • If you’re not comfortable saying something out loud, it probably doesn’t belong in your sales copy or on your website
  • Know that copy for your programs and your website is going to be ongoing and something that you continue to work on over time – it’s never fully complete!
  • Go into your writing with a good feeling
  • When it comes to your content, think of a few things that you want to be known for
  • If you find something that you are constantly talking about, that is something great that you could create content about
  • Content ideas are everywhere! They are in our conversations and in day-to-day life.
  • Schedule a day of the week or a time during the day to do your writing
  • The goal is that content creation becomes easy and maybe even fun!
  • Take a quote, idea or main idea from your blog post and post it on social media – this is a great way to use your content on a number of different platforms
  • The more you write, the easier it will get!
  • And much more… Here’s the episode!

I am very excited to announce a brand new partnership with Ana Luisa! Ana Luisa is a quality jewelry brand that uses recycled gold to make their products. As a yoga teacher with a new business, I haven’t splurged on myself in years. I always end up buying cheap jewelry that doesn’t last, and that’s why I am so happy that I discovered Ana Luisa! They make pieces for everyday wear and beautiful pieces for all your events. The best part is that they are offering YOU a discount. Head on over to analuisa.com/mbom and treat yourself (because you’re worth it!).
